My son was at Jambo with the Heart of VA Council contingent in Tr.1708 and I was on staff working as a “Muleskinner”, that is getting people on and off busses at the two hubs, Longstreet and Mahone.
I enjoyed your troop blog so much. It was so much more than what I was able to see during my time there. Your enties and pictures gave me a much better understanding of what Jamboree must have felt like for my son, who, as a typical teenager, doesn’t tell me much beyond: ” It was great and I had a good time.”

A local news story validated that the BSA did sign an option to have the 2013 hosted again at Fort AP Hill. During the 2010 Jamboree this story was morphed as it progressed through the rumor mill into a story that assumed the BSA would probably be back at AP Hill for 2013. During the closing Arena show, a BSA professional specifically addressed this rumor and stated categorically that the 2013 event will be at The Summit – Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve.

Where will the new one be held. one piece came to us that it would be ap hill again because the no PA site wouldn’t be ready but Franklin swears up and down that AP Hill is no longer available and PA will be the new state or maybe another VA I am probably wrong. my self.

My son was part of the Baltimore contingent in sub camp 1. Somehow I stumbled acrosss your blog and followed it every day. Your pictures were great and your comments oh so funny. It was a great way to make me feel a part of my son’s experience. Hope all your scouts make it home safely. Thank you.
