The deadline to join over 100 Last Frontier Council Scouts as part of our 2017 National Scout Jamboree contingent has been set for December 1st. The opportunity to sign up has the potential to close sooner if the remaining open slots for Scouts were to fill prior to that date.
What is Jamboree?
The National Scout Jamboree is a unique Scouting event that occurs only once every four years and takes place at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in beautiful West Virginia. At this event, more than 30,000 Scouts and guests will gather to experience the best scouting has to offer all in one location. Activities include shooting sports, zip lines, white water rafting, mountain biking, scuba diving, technology quests and more.
In additional to these activities, Scouts will experience world class concerts, arena shows, interactive displays, patch trading, and an incredible day of service when thousands of Scouts will travel from the camp to participate in a day of service giving back to the local community.
Who can attend?
The National Scout Jamboree is open to Scouts that are First Class Scout or higher and meet other certain age and health minimums. This means Scouts as young as 11 years old that would not qualify for high adventure would qualify to attend Jamboree.
How do they get there?
Scout Councils form temporary Jamboree Troops comprised of Scouts from a variety of locations. These Scouts travel together to the event with Council selected adults.
How to learn more?
The Jamboree Troop leadership is actively recruiting to fill the open slots and once they are full no additional Scouts will be accepted. Now is a great time to schedule a Troop presentation or to talk 1:1 with a Jamboree leader to learn more.
